Follow meLetter from Pastor Annemarie Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering, embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself?...” Matthew 17:24-26, The Message Did you play Follow the Leader as a child? I would be willing to bet you did! I certainly spent my fair share of childhood following and leading my friends through playgrounds and backyards around trees and over rocks, hopping on one foot, patting my head, et cetera and so forth. I’d say it’s part of our human nature to follow one we determine to be the leader. We tend to look for guidance, instruction, on what to do and how to do it, how to live our lives in society. Often unconsciously. We look for leadership and get in that leader’s groove when we find it. Bob Dylan famously wrote Gotta Serve Somebody, the actions you choose are going to be following in somebody’s way.... As we begin this new chapter at Beautiful Savior, I wonder: How shall we gather together to hear this Word and follow in the Way? How would you like to engage scripture together? I want to hear your thoughts!..... For more infomation visit:

Beginners’ Acrylic Painting ClassesStarting Tuesday, September 8, 2026 This course is aimed at people who would like to be able to paint, but never dreamed they could. And it is NOT one in which everyone is painting the same picture! The painting medium is acrylics, and the subject is pets – specifically, the painter’s own pet, or one of a close friend or family member. This adds an incentive to do one’s best, yet lessens the temptation to compare (favorably or unfavorably) one’s own painting with that of another student’s. Yet more advanced artists have also taken the course, and come away with new techniques or insights. Students should be at least 12 years old, and I’ve had several students in their 80’s (one 92-year-old). A class consists of six three-hour sessions, two per week for three weeks, with a maximum of five students. Painting classes start Tuesday, September 8! These classes run Tuesdays and Thursdays, either 9AM-12PM, or 1PM to 4PM. A class consists of six three-hour sessions, two per week for three weeks, held in the Luther Room at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church....

Notes on NotesNotes on Sunday's Special Music You probably will recognize the traditional Irish folk tune of “Be Thou My Vision,” but you may be surprised to learn that the lyrics originated from the pen of a blind man! According to tradition, in the 6th century St. Dallán Forgaill, an Irish monk nicknamed “Little Blind One” wrote a poem that languished mostly in obscurity until it was discovered and translated into English prose in 1905 by Irish scholar Mary Byrne. Five years later, Eleanor Hull adapted the translation into rhyming verses, and the song was included in hymnals soon thereafter..... For more infomation visit:
