What is a life well lived?Letter from Pastor Jeff I have presided over many celebration of life services and often wonder, what is a life well lived? Each person, unique, wonderfully made, and loved. Never, and I mean never, have a person’s material possessions been the center of attention. My task as pastor, besides proclaiming the gospel, is to shed light on what truly matters as a human being, that is, how have you made a difference in the lives of others. While we claim faith in Jesus, we fail to follow his teaching to love him by loving others. Most of us continue to embrace fully the practice of scarcity not abundance, accumulating more and more out of fear. Will I have enough? This week at synod assembly Rev. Tim Brown spoke of stewardship and generosity. Stewardship is not just money, it’s about relationships, self, work, play, etc. Stewardship is our life. A life well lived is about surrender. Surrender of your ego to the service of others. Take some time this week to reflect upon your life and what it means to live well before you die. While doing so, I leave you with a poem on death from Rumi.... For more infomation visit:

Love in ActionWays to show G.R.A.C.E. Starting July 1st -A month-long food drive focused on the best thing to put between sliced bread: PEANUT BUTTER! The goal is to collect (along with other faith communities and groups) thousands of jars of peanut butter for the ICS Food Bank. Every jar donated supports families in need and helps fight hunger in our community. Join us in spreading the love — one jar at a time. Bring your jars of peanut butter to the church and place them in the bin marked ICS or on the table under the TV in the entrance area.
Can you help out? In May TIHAN (Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network) distributed 217 CarePackages—the highest monthly total so far this year. These packages include essential personal care and household cleaning items that are not covered by SNAP benefits but are critical for maintaining health and stability. TIHAN is now in desperate need of small boxes of Kleenex, small bottles of Hand Soap, Shaving Cream, and Disposable Razors. Next time you’re at the store, consider picking up one of those items and putting it in the TIHAN donation bin in our narthex/entrance area. |
