Dear Beautiful Savior,

At what point do we stop sleep walking and awaken to the reality of who “I” am? When will we finally let go of the lies of the world and just be? Contemplative living awakens the soul to being present, to being aware. Only when we become alive to the needs and potential of others will we awaken from our sleep. The poet Mary Oliver in her poem “The Journey” captures the moment. This is true surrender. Enjoy the ride….

Sunday, 3^rd Sunday of the month – Noisy Offering during worship. The children will be passing coffee cans around for you to place loose change and help support our GRACE Center, which gives out food, clothing, shoes, and hygiene supplies to those in need. Jingle-Jangle!

Wednesday, May 20 – Academy Graduation at 9am.  Congratulations to all our students!

Saturday, May 23 – Church Work Day starting at 7am. Everyone is invited to help us clean up & maintain our beautiful campus.  There are a number of projects around the Academy, both inside and outside, plus we need to do some tree trimming.

Next Sunday, May 24 – Day of Pentecost, everyone is encouraged to wear red to worship.

Next Sunday, May 24 – Counter’s meeting after worship in Jenni’s office.

Sunday, May 31 – Meet & Greet with Pastor Annemarie Burke in Werner Hall after worship. Come meet and chat with Pastor Annemarie, our Pastoral Candidate.

Sunday, June 7 – Special Congregation Meeting in Werner Hall after worship, the only item on the agenda will by the Vote to Call Pastor Annemarie Burke.

Enjoy food and fun and raise some dough for Beautiful Savior Academy.

Meet & Greet Pastor Annemarie on Sunday, May 31 in Werner Hall after worship.

Special Congregation Meeting on Sunday, June 7 after worship for the Vote to Call Pastor Annemarie Burke.

Pastor Annemarie Burke was born and raised in Tucson and calls the Sonoran Desert home. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural and Linguistic Anthropology. Later, she followed a call to offer her love of language and diverse cultures in service of God’s mission to love and bless the world by joining Wycliffe Bible Translators. There she served as a Sociolinguistic Survey Specialist in Tanzania, traveling with a team in remote regions of the country.

After returning, she attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and served her internship year in Northern Minnesota on the Iron Range. She went on to serve ELCA congregations in the Mountain West before returning to Arizona. Most recently, she has served in hospice chaplaincy supporting patients and their families. In January of 2026 she celebrated her 20-year ordination anniversary.

In her free time for rest and renewal, she enjoys reading, hiking, desert gardening, discovering a new favorite restaurant with friends, playing the piano, staring at sunsets, and a good binge-watch on Netflix. She enjoys being outdoors more than indoors, is a dog-person who has cats, and will wax poetic about Star Trek if not closely monitored.

We gather in the unity of Christ and are all invited to the Lord’s Table. He is the host —we are all guests. We celebrate that Jesus came to us and continues to come to us.  In faith we receive the body and blood of our Lord and Savior. We believe that he did this “for you.” We welcome ALL to Communion for it is the Lord’s Table and Jesus’s gift of grace to the world.
