Letter from Pastor Jeff

Dear Sisters and Brothers of Beautiful Savior,

Sunday we are celebrating Rebecca Solomon’s retirement.  While I have only come to know Rebecca, Beautiful Savior has been the place she calls home.  Without using the typical adjectives often used to describe people retiring, Rebecca used her talents to celebrate the love of God through music.  Hans Christian Andersen said, “Where words fail, music speaks.”  Being a contemplative, Aldous Huxley said it best when he said, “After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.”

Well done good and faithful servant.  You are going out on a high note (pun intended).  Through the years you have through your music reached the deepest parts of our human experience.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.  After all is said and done music is the language of the spirit.  Enjoy a poem written by Rebecca.....

Sunday, Feb. 15—Noisy Offering. The children will be passing coffee cans around for you to place loose change and help support the Cup of Cold Water Ministry. Jingle-Jangle!

Sunday, Feb. 15—Happy Retirement for Becky Solomon, our collaborative pianist/accompanist. Join us in Werner Hall after worship for cake & fellowship. Please join us in congratulating Becky Solomon for her lifelong dedication to music ministry and her 23 years of service to the mission and congregation of BSLC.

Sundays—Bible Study after worship. We gather in the Conference Room to continue our study of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible. Led by Pastor Richard Mauthe.

Wednesday, Feb. 18—Ash Wednesday worship at 7pm. On Ash Wednesday we begin our forty-day journey toward Easter. Marking our foreheads with dust, we acknowledge that we die and return to the earth. At the same time, the dust traces the life-giving cross indelibly marked on our foreheads at baptism.  We humbly pray for God to make our hearts clean while we rejoice that “now is the day of salvation.” Returning to our baptismal call, we more intentionally bear the fruits of mercy and justice in the world.

Thursday, Feb. 19 - Lutheran Social Services Program/Luncheon 12pm-1pm at DoubleTree by Hilton Tucson (445 S. Alvernon Way, 85711) We would love to have you at our luncheon! It is free of charge, but registration is required. Become a Partner in Action and RSVP on line at www.lss-sw.org/bfl

Have You Heard?

Planning for our security; a ministry of care

Would you be willing to help create a security plan for Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and Academy? The Grand Canyon Synod this year is sharing a year-long series of short reflections and practical guidance on congregational security and preparedness. This series begins with a simple but essential conviction: security planning is not about fear—it is a ministry of care," the Synod posted.

We are putting together a small group to look at our property and policies, to study resources gathered by the Synod and others, and to come up with a comprehensive plan to address our physical safety so that worship, learning and service can take place with trust and confidence. If you can commit a bit of time and energy, or would like more information, please contact Mark Mittelstadt at markmitt71@yahoo.com.

Are you a Thrivent client? Yes, then you can help!

With Thrivent Action Teams, you can make a meaningful impact in our community.‎‎‎ Throughout the year both the church and the Academy can use your support in applying for a Thrivent Action Team to help with the cost of supplies, decorations, and refreshments for different events.  Thrivent will provide the resources we need to get started, including up to $250 in seed money. If you can help out, please contact Becca Vorholzer, Academy Director (520-579-1453 BeccaV@beautifulsavior.net), or the church office (520-744-2665 office@beautifulsavior.net) for a list of events to help with.

ACSTO -Give our Academy students a solid Christian foundation on which to grow

Sunday Worship

Sunday Worship

9am in person and livestreamed - Sunday, February 15, 2026

Welcome into our community today as we seek to follow the one who gathers us.
May you feel a connection to the beautiful Savior in worship this day! May you join us in learning and seeking to live in G.R.A.C.E. (Generosity, Reaching Out, Advocacy, Compassion, Encouragement).

We gather in the unity of Christ and are all invited to the Lord’s Table. He is the host —we are all guests. We celebrate that Jesus came to us and continues to come to us.  In faith we receive the body and blood of our Lord and Savior. We believe that he did this “for you.”

Join us in-person, on Facebook Live at Beautifulsaviortucson, and on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88641186563   Meeting ID: 886 4118 6563 and Passcode: 188820
