Welcome Pastor Jeff!Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Gallen - Our New Interim Pastor Pastor Jeffery Gallen was born in Denver to an Army Sergeant & his wife. He spent his toddler years in Landstuhl, Germany; his grade school years in Lawton, OK; and when his father retired out of the Army, the family moved back to his mother’s hometown of Milwaukee, WI. The years in Milwaukee saw Jeff graduating from Don Bosco HS, attending Concordia College in Milwaukee for one year, meeting his wife-to-be, Renae, and enlisting in the Army as a Chaplain’s Assistant, becoming stationed in San Antonio, TX after military schooling... ..... The next AF assignment brought us to Yokota AB in Japan, where we had the pleasure of participating in the 100th anniversary of the Lutheran Church in Japana, and the privilege of meeting Billy Graham, not to mention a wonderful living and travel experience. Following our three years there, Jeff concluded his military career with 4 years at Luke AB here in AZ. The family was growing, and were happy here, so when early retirement was offered, Jeff took advantage of it & we settled here in the Phoenix area permanently. Pastor Jeff then took a call to CELC in Goodyear, serving for 26 years. For more infomation visit:

Possibilities in Partnership: Exploring New Ways to Be Church TogetherGrand Canyon Synod, News Many congregations across our synod are feeling the weight of this season. Rising costs, fewer rostered leaders, and ongoing building and maintenance needs can make it harder to focus on what draws us together in the first place—sharing the good news of God in Jesus Christ... The Grand Canyon Synod invites rostered ministers and lay leaders into a synod-wide conversation focused on partnership, creativity, and faithful imagination. Rather than beginning with answers, we will begin with listening—learning from leaders who are already experimenting with new ways of connecting and cooperating across congregations, and exploring resources that can guide us into the future God is opening before us. Join us for a Zoom gathering on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 6:00 pm (MST), 5:00 pm PST. Registration is required. Please register in advance using the Zoom link below. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for joining the meeting.
