Living Lutheran

Letter from Pastor Tony

BY now you should know we are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  We are a church that values and encourages diverse voices and lively dialogue in our faith and life. Did you know we have a national quarterly magazine that helps you better understand your relationship to the greater church?  It’s called the Living Lutheran magazine. Living Lutheran is an opportunity for church members to express individual perspectives of their faith.

Living Lutheran is your source for news, reflections and stories from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and its local and global companions. In each edition they cover religious news and social issues, congregational life, global and domestic mission, family matters, spiritual practices and resources, and more....

We will be watching One Life, tells the true story of Sir Nicholas "Nicky" Winton (played by Anthony Hopkins), a British stockbroker who, in the months leading up to World War II, saved 669 predominantly Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia. The film portrays both his younger self, working to organize the evacuations, and his older self, reflecting on his past and the impact of his actions.

Starting July 1st -A month-long food drive focused on the best thing to put between sliced bread: PEANUT BUTTER! The goal is to collect 10,000 jars of peanut butter for the ICS Food Bank. Faith communities and other groups can raise the stakes by entering the competition to see which organization brings in the most jars total and the most jars per capita. Bring your jars of peanut butter to the church and place them in the bin marked ICS or on the table under the TV in the gathering area.

Please join us in adding to the Cross Wall in Werner Hall.  All sizes (small, medium, large up to 18" long) and styles are welcome.  Drop your crosses off at the office during the week or bring them with you on Sunday.  Crosses will be blessed and then hung.  Our goal is to fill the wall with all types of crosses.  Any questions, contact Geneva Cassel (520-241-7421)

2025 ELCA Churchwide Assembly

2025 ELCA Churchwide Assembly

For the Life of the World

The 2025 ELCA Churchwide Assembly will be held July 28–Aug. 2, 2025, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

The ELCA Churchwide Assembly, the primary decision-making body of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is a process of communal spiritual discernment. When the ELCA Churchwide Assembly convenes, its voting members meet with confidence in God’s grace around word and water, wine and bread, to carry on their work on behalf of the entire church. Over the course of the assembly, voting members:

  • Hear reports and review the work of churchwide officers, leaders and units.
  • Receive and consider proposals from synod assemblies.
  • Elect officers, board members and other leaders as specified by the constitution or bylaws.
  • Elect a Presiding Bishop of the ELCA and a Secretary of the ELCA
  • Establish ELCA churchwide policy.
  • Worship together.
  • Adopt a budget.
  • Conduct other business related to the ELCA churchwide organization.

Sunday Worship

Sunday Worship

9am in person and livestreamed - Sunday, July 20, 2025

Welcome into our community today as we seek to follow the one who gathers us.
May you feel a connection to the beautiful Savior in worship this day! May you join us in learning and seeking to live in G.R.A.C.E. (Generosity, Reaching Out, Advocacy, Compassion, Encouragement).

We gather in the unity of Christ and are all invited to the Lord’s Table. He is the host —we are all guests. We celebrate that Jesus came to us and continues to come to us.  In faith we receive the body and blood of our Lord and Savior. We believe that he did this “for you.”

Join us in-person, on Facebook Live at Beautifulsaviortucson, and on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88641186563   Meeting ID: 886 4118 6563 and Passcode: 188820
