Letter from Pastor Tony

Don't be proud at all. Be completely gentle. Be patient. Put up with one another in love. The holy spirit makes you one in every way. So try your best to remain one. Let peace keep you together."

I recently read in an article, a Doctor asked a child he was treating what he wanted to be when he grows up. The boy paused and then replied he didn't know, but he knew he wanted to be kind. This story highlights the seemingly simple yet profound lessons written to the Ephesians.

It also reminds me of the lessons I am teaching and trying to live out on a daily basis.  And yet, they are lessons I need to be reminded of daily.  Corrections other people sometimes help me make. Completely gently and patiently of course.   Last week I had a concerned woman take offence to something I said theologically in a class I am teaching.  The statement was not what she believes in her heart as being an absolute truth to her.  It contradicted her faith belief.

As a pastor it is my job to preach and teach the doctrine of the church as the Lutheran doctrines as written...

Sunday, Oct. 5—Property team meeting in Werner Hall after worship. Next Work day will be Saturday, Oct. 18 starting at 7am.

Wednesday, Oct. 8, 15, 22, & 29—The Chosen at 10am in the conference room. Join us to watch The Chosen series Season 3 with discussion time afterwards.  Season Three picks up where Season Two left off, with Jesus delivering the most famous sermon in history. What follows are the consequences of living out his teachings. The world changes because of the Sermon on the Mount, and the believers in (and enemies of) Jesus increase exponentially.

Thursday, Oct. 9—PrimeTimers at 12:30pm in Werner Hall. Everyone is invited to join in for food, fun and fellowship. Mr. Bill’s Pulled Pork sandwiches will be provided as the main dish. Please use the sign up sheet in the gathering area to let us know you're attending and what side dish, salad, or dessert you will be bringing.  Questions, contact Susan Kingsborough 520-237-2313

Thursday, Oct. 9—Games Galore at 2pm in Werner Hall.  Plan to stay after PrimeTimers or come at 2pm for Games Galore. Board games (not “bored” games!) of all types will delight and bond us together!

Welsh baritone Jeremy Huw Williams will perform an art song recital of music by British composers Benjamin Britten (1913–1976) and George Butterworth (1885–1916), and living American composers Daniel Asia, Joshua Nichols, and Zachary James Bramble. The program includes two world premieres: a setting of Psalm 13 by Nichols, and settings of poetry by St. Teresa of Ávila by Bramble.

Exciting News – Our Little Free Library is Here! Little Free Libraries are small book-sharing boxes where anyone can take a book, leave a book, or both. They offer a simple way to connect with others, share stories, and discover something new. This isn’t just for children—there are books for all ages to enjoy. Whether you’re looking to pass along a favorite read or pick up something fresh, we invite you to stop by and see what’s inside. You’ll find our Little Free Library on the sidewalk between the Academy and the church Fellowship Hall.

Thank you to all who donated, helped organize, or purchased items from the Annual Rummage Sale.   A total of $3,099.00 was made during the sale.  All the proceeds go to Joy Circle (our women’s group) and are then donated to different organizations throughout the year. A special thank you to Geneva Cassel & Linda
Weber as the leads for the event.

A Call for Nominations. We are looking for individuals that would like to be on the Congregation Council. We will have 4 vacancies to be voted on 3 Nov to start the terms in January. There is 3 two year terms and 1 one year term that will be open. If you are interested Please contact Pia Seebach-York (annapia13@gmail.com), Pete Peterson (repropete1@gmail.com), Craig Fennel (craig@egrafx.com) or Andy Anderson (AApatriot@protonmail.com).

BSLC Constitution Review/Update. The Council has just approved of the Constitution changes needed to catch up to the changes that were necessary for the ELCA model constitution and also made many changes that we needed to since our congregation has been through many transitions over the years.  You can review these changes by requesting the revised constitution from the church office or calling Jenni to get a down-load copy. We will be reviewing the changes at a special Congregation Meeting in October.

Save the Date! Worship in the Park & Picnic—Sunday, Nov. 9th.   Long-time members will recall the fun and fellowship we enjoyed at church picnics a few years ago. We have reserved the ramada and tables at Denny Dunn Park, just down the hill from the church at 4400 W Massingale Rd, Tucson. An ad hoc group of Mark Mittelstadt, Andy Anderson, Al Steichen, Don Swanson and Pete Pederson are putting it together. If you have suggestions please contact one of them. We are working on details and will have more information soon. But note the date and plan to attend!

Sunday Worship

Sunday Worship

9am in person and livestreamed - Sunday, October 5, 2025

Welcome into our community today as we seek to follow the one who gathers us.
May you feel a connection to the beautiful Savior in worship this day! May you join us in learning and seeking to live in G.R.A.C.E. (Generosity, Reaching Out, Advocacy, Compassion, Encouragement).

We gather in the unity of Christ and are all invited to the Lord’s Table. He is the host —we are all guests. We celebrate that Jesus came to us and continues to come to us.  In faith we receive the body and blood of our Lord and Savior. We believe that he did this “for you.”

Join us in-person, on Facebook Live at Beautifulsaviortucson, and on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88641186563   Meeting ID: 886 4118 6563 and Passcode: 188820
