"Want to get away?"- an airline company runs those ads. (Know which one?)
"Take me away!"- a bath product did that one. (Remember which one?
I just got back from a vacation. There is a commandment to sabbath.
If you need a reminder of the need to relax and let go beyond just life itself, then I invite you to
read this Sunday's Gospel. (Matthew 14:13-21) Then read it again, slowly.
What is the set up?
Jesus just lost his cousin to a politically motivated execution.
He has been teaching and healing nonstop.
He needed to get away.
He went away, alone, to a deserted place.
Not even his disciples came with him.
Jesus wanted to get away.
Yes, the crowds found him.
Yes, he healed and fed them.
Yes, he had compassion for them, so he did those things.
He also needed to get away.
If the Son of God knew that he needed to relax, what makes you think you don't?
Or others around you?
I wonder what our lives would be like if we gave ourselves permission to not always be doing?
If we didn't expect others to be constantly doing something for you?
What if we remembered that we are human BEINGS and not human DOINGS?
May you find times of refreshment and recreation so you may know peace, and share peace.
