Last week, Hurricane Helene hit the coast of Florida as a devastating Category 4 hurricane, then moved inland as a tropical storm through the southeastern Unites States. Much of Apalachia was devastated. Millions are without power, they have had dangerous flooding and landslides, downed trees and power lines. Many are missing and unaccounted for. Death toll is still rising.
But wherever this storm goes, Lutheran Disaster Response will be there. Lutheran Disaster Response has a strong relationship in the region and is already at work on the ground. Working alongside Synods and other partners, LDR is prepared to expand to all impacted areas. We anticipate that our greatest impact will be in reaching those in rural and underserved communities. By giving to Lutheran Disaster Response, you enable the ELCA to act quickly after disasters such as Hurricane Helene and remain for as long as recovery takes. https://www.elca.org/our-work/relief-and-development/lutheran-disaster-response |
