9 Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it. I hope the test won’t show that we have failed. But if it comes to that, we’d rather the test showed our failure than yours. We’re rooting for the truth to win out in you. We couldn’t possibly do otherwise.
We don’t just put up with our limitations; we celebrate them, and then go on to celebrate every strength, every triumph of the truth in you. We pray hard that it will all come together in your lives. ( 2 Corinthians 13:9-10- MESSAGE )
I love this translation of 2 Corinthians! Paul is giving his final comments in the letter letting the Corinthians know that rather demanding proof that Christ was speaking through him they should look into their own hearts to where God’s power is working within themselves.
Looking into our own hearts is a part of our performance review process here at Beautiful Savior for our staff. It is my responsibility along with the Council to yearly review our congregational staff. It is Becca’s responsibility along with the Academy Board to do a yearly performance review on the staff of the academy. Before I share the typical performance review with my staff, I have asked them to complete a personal questionnaire that is a deep assessment of how each one of them feels about how they, themselves, are doing in their particular position. It is that time of the year… these reviews are being done right now. Pray for us as we work through this review process!
Yearly performance reviews are an essential part of building a successful organization, helping employees grow, stay motivated, and excel in their roles. The key to effective performance management is delivering feedback that’s clear, constructive, and specific. After all, how you communicate feedback directly impacts an employee’s productivity, job satisfaction, and overall career development.
Personalized feedback is equally important. It recognizes each employee’s unique contributions, showing that their efforts are noticed and valued. When feedback feels personal and thoughtful, it boosts motivation and job satisfaction, making employees feel seen and appreciated.
We are proud of our church staff and the staff academy. Often these people are asked to perform over and above what is usually expected. They are all so committed to this church congregation they all do what they can to make the difference in our ministry. Please take a moment in your week to come and say, “Thank You,” to our staff for all their hard work and dedication to Beautiful Savior. We are blessed to have each one of them!
Take a moment in your own lives to do a personal “check in” too and ask yourself how are you doing as a disciple of Christ and in sharing the good news that the kingdom of God is here in Jesus Christ. Give yourself that regular check up! If you need improvement ask yourself what is missing in your life that will help you enjoy the kingdom of God!
Also celebrate what is going well in your life. Give thanks to God for the blessings you feel and as the scripture says, “Pray hard that it will all come together in your lives!” AMEN
Peace,
Pastor Tony Scheer
