Cup of Cold Water Ministry

Jenni and Rhonda have seen quite a jump in the numbers of visitors to the office (those experiencing homelessness or are down on their luck), seeking a place to rest out of the sun, a bottle of cold water and maybe some assistance. They often give the seekers not only water and a Manna Bag, but toiletries from the Grace Center (as mentioned above) and often times a gift card to Fry's. 

Due to the increase in visitors seeking help and comfort, we realize that we need to approach this in a way that is more organized and intentional, inviting others to be involved and take the burden off of the office staff, while still being accessible to those who are seeking help. Safety is also a factor.  Our plan is to open Werner Hall on Thursdays, from 10-1, and have volunteers present to hand out cold water, offer prayers, manna bags and get clothing or hygiene items from the Grace Center if requested.  We would like to have 3-4 volunteers each week. 

Both Jenni and Rhonda will be speaking more about this ministry on Sunday morning at the start of each service. We ask that if you are able to volunteer, even once, please consider doing so. You may call or email the office with questions or put your name on the volunteer list.
