"Oh pastor, I can't do what you do!"
I hear that frequently, and not just in regards to my bad joke telling skills!
It is often based on a feeling of being incapable, or unworthy.
Somehow, going to seminary gave me all of the answers (it didn't)
and time to practice all of the skills (nope) that I needed.
To say that I often have to "make things up as I go along" would be fair.
I have had to believe that the Lord provides (God does)
and that I need to trust (that is always tough) in the Lord.
So many things in life don't always turn out or happen
as you would expect or plan, but life continues.
New life, forgiveness, grace- these are all things
we ALL receive because we ALL need them.
We need them to use, to share, to keep on going.
We follow the one who leads us into the future with hope.
He goes ahead and prepares a place for us, then he leads us to himself!
Jesus also sends the advocate, the comforter, the Holy Spirit,
to walk with us and sustain us with the gifts of the Spirit.
ALL OF THESE GIFTS AND BLESSINGS ARE GIVEN TO US
SO WE CAN ALL DO WHAT GOD CALLS US TO DO!
"Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit on them!”
The cry of Moses in Numbers 11 is answered in Pentecost.
May you realize just how much you can do to serve the Kingdom of God!
