When Jesus arrived in the villages of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “What are people saying about who the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some think he is John the Baptizer, some say Elijah, some Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”
He pressed them, “And how about you? Who do you say I am?”
Matthew 16:13-15, The Message
I am so glad to begin a new chapter in ministry with Beautiful Savior! I know God will richly bless us with growth, deep in love and broad in service.
My prayer is that we follow Jesus together.
A simple, short statement. Yet one that opens a world of possibility.
Just who is this Jesus that we will follow? And then, given who Jesus is, what does it look like to follow?
King, Shepherd, Servant. Peace, Lamb, Light.
Who does Jesus himself say he is? How does he tell us and show us? To what places and people does this Way lead in our real world today?
Beginning this Sunday and continuing into autumn, we’ll explore, pray, read, discuss, ponder how we follow Jesus—together.
Here at the beginning, the question that Jesus asked the disciples that day is the same question I’d love to hear your answer to. Your ponderings, your certainties, your doubts, your wonderings and wanderings.
Who do you say Jesus is?
