John 15:12
“This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you.”
This past week one of our beloved church members had major knee replacement surgery. We all were praying but the day of the surgery. As the day went on, we waited to hear from her. I received an email late in the afternoon that everything went fine and that she was home recovering. Not everyone received that email and there were several people that were anxiously waiting to hear from her to assure them she got out of surgery ok. When evening came these concerned friends were worried when still no word was heard. They wished they had an emergency contact number to get ahold of her daughter to find out any details. Finally, someone who did receive the email that was sent earlier in the day passed on the message that everything went well.
The question came to the church office as to whether or not we have a way of collecting emergency contacts of our members. Do we have a emergency contact form? This form is commonly used to ensure that people are protected and receive the necessary care in case of an emergency. YES! We do! Our computer system has an information page on every member of the church and there is a place to add an emergency contact on every member’s page. The problem is that very few of us have any contacts listed. Including me! SO, as of today I have my daughters ‘contact information listed on my membership form.
It is important for individuals to update their emergency contact information regularly to ensure that it remains current and accurate. These individuals are usually close family members or friends who can respond quickly to provide assistance or make decisions on behalf of a person in urgent situations. Beautiful Savior is an aging congregation with lots of situations like this occurring and it would be great if we could help each other when issues arise. This is a way that we can demonstrate our care and love for all of you.
When people don’t show up for activities as scheduled - YOU ARE MISSED, and we do wonder if someone’s health is at risk. Please feel free to send Jenni an email or call her to add a contact to your emergency contact list!
