This week’s Holy Gospel is about the death of Lazarus and it reminded me about the terrible cost of loss in our world..

There is a song titled: I Stand With Humanity by Dave Costa whose lyrics are so profound to ponder.

I do not raise a flag to choose a side,

No borders guide the place where I abide.

For lines on maps were drawn by human hands,

Yet sorrow walks through every wounded land.

I do not pledge my heart to thrones of power

or speeches made in some commanding tower.

For far from halls where grand decisions start,

The cost of war is paid by human hearts.

I stand beside the quiet and the small,

The ones who never asked for this at all.

The men and women trying just to live,

The children with no shield that war will give.

They wake each day beneath uncertain skies,

With fear reflected softly in their eyes.

For choices made by voices far away,

Have changed the course of one more fragile day.

But still I choose the side of hope and trust

That love will rise above the fear and dust.

For every tear that falls on silent ground,

Reminds us what our common hearts have found.

No child should learn the sound of falling bombs,

Who then run with fear toward dads and moms.

No father should watch the light within them fade,

For debts of power games they never played.

Greed moves the world with relentless speed,

While ordinary lives find it hard to succeed.

War writes its story with drones in the air,

Yet leaves behind a trail of deepest despair.

We share the same wide sky above our days,

The same soft moon that lights our separate ways.

And every life that breathes beneath that light,

Deserves a world where hope outshines the night.

So I will stand for those who cannot speak

For every fragile soul the wars make weak.

For every life that trembles in the storm,

Still searching for a place that’s soft and warm.

I do not stand with crowns that claim to rule,

Or power wrapped in banners bright and cruel.

I stand with every heart war tries to break,

For humankind deserves a peace we make.

But still I choose the side of hope and trust,

That love will rise above the fear and dust.

For every life beneath the wounded sky,

Deserves a world where none must fight or die.

May the world one day awaken from the nightmare of insanity,

And find its courage again in the quiet heart of humanity.
