This Sunday is known as "Good Shepherd Sunday".  Traditionally is contains Gospel readings from John 10 and the 23rd Psalm. I would like to focus on the Psalm.

Read it. Notice anything about it? Do you see how it is framed? (Notice the verbs!)

The Lord IS my shepherd.

He LEADS...

Though I WALK...

He PREPARES ...

He COMFORTS...

It is in the present tense. The promise is for now.

Now read John 10. If we aren't letting the Lord shepherd us, because we do not listen to him...

For God so loved the world...

By this people will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd. Follow where he leads, and surely goodness and mercy shall follow you.
