The Cup of Cold Water is our ministry to serve neighbors in need who come to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church seeking help. As the weather heats up our ministry team has been busy making the community aware of the help we provide.
In addition to social media posts and two large A-frame signs to direct traffic, our volunteers have visited businesses and stores in the Ina Road-Thornydale area where many of the local unhoused population live or gather. During the first three weeks of May, 94 manna bags with water, snacks and toiletries were delivered to 11 businesses. In several instances those businesses requested another batch of bags that had been given them. They give bags to the homeless and let them know they can get additional help from the church at the top of the hill.
While this is a significant step forward as we seek to serve the homeless or those struggling to meet basic needs, this initiative has reduced our supplies of many of the items we are able to provide.
If you can help replenish the Grace Center, we are looking for the following:
Cases of water
Non-perishable snack containers of fruit cocktail, apple sauce, pudding
Snack bars
Cracker snack packs
Non-perishable protein (packs of tuna, chicken, mini wieners)
Individual wrapped cookies
Snack packs of fruit snacks
Tooth brushes
Toothpaste
Toilet paper
Diapers
Feminine hygiene products
New socks
New underwear
Good used clothing, particularly mens pants, shirts, T-shirts
Small containers of pet food
Sunglasses
Sun block
Sun hats
Billed caps
In addition, the ministry purchases certain items such as sleeping bags, tents, specific toiletries. We welcome and appreciate donations through the church office by check, cash or the third Sunday "Noisy Offerings" of coins in a can.
Thank you for your support!
