How we serve our Lord and Community

God's Work Our Hands is an ELCA initiative which celebrates who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. Below is a list of activities for "God's Work. Our Hands."  Mark the date on your calendar and plan on wearing your yellow "God's Work. Our Hands" t-shirt on September 8, 2019. (Don't have a yellow t-shirt? No worry, just check with th office to purchase one.)

God's Work. Our Hands. Activities

Blood Drive - Please sign up for the Red Cross Blood Drive here at Beautiful Savior in the conference room on Sunday, September 15th from 8am-2pm.  Sign up sheets are available here or you can go to www.redcrossblood.org and type in beautifulsavior in the Find A Blood Drive box.

Cold Water - Teams go into the community to give away bottles of cold water to any who wants one. Locations are parks, trails, shopping centers, bus terminals.

Kindness Rocks - Join us on GWOH Day  as we paint kindness rocks..colorful rocks with inspiring messages on them.  If you have ideas for messages please share ...we have some  ideas but would like more on our list. We would want enough kindness rocks to share  with a struggling friend and/or leave for others on the meditation path. One message at just the right moment can change your whole day, outlook, life.

The Lot on 22nd - Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep."  ~John 21:17b     Help the 1218 Youth Group sponsor a pizza and dessert meal for The Lot on 22nd on Sunday, Sept. 8th. Monetary donations are being collected to purchase food and supplies.

More Than A Bed - Please stop by Werner Hall and help us sort and remove tags from a large donation of clothes that More Than a Bed has received. We will be removing tags and sorting clothes so simple work that can be done sitting down!

Totes of Care - We will once again be asking you to make a difference to someone in need.  We will be purchasing 100 totes with the funds from a Thrivent action team.  On GWOH Sunday we will be distributing totes in the narthex Please consider taking one or more totes and purchasing hygiene and toiletry items to fill those totes.  There will be a suggested list of items and we request you put in at least five items. The totes will need to be returned by Sunday September 22. They will be distributed to clients at ICS

Youth On Their Own - Please stop by Werner Hall and write an encouraging note/card for teens in the Youth On Their Program. Words are powerful and can encourage, strengthen, heal, and remind us that we are cared for as beloved children of God.
