September 2020 Pastor's Letter

Submitted by Office Manager on September 24, 2020 - 1:06pm

The Israelites wandered 40 years on their journey to the Promised Land.  Jesus ate nothing for 40 days while being tempted.  Forty days and forty nights it rained in the flood story.

We are a good 6 months into our COVID-19 sojourn.  It has been quite an adventure, and a learning opportunity.  We have discovered some new skills, developed some new ways of operating, and made connections with new people- all because of the fact that the way we used to do things just couldn't be followed.

"I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?"

Isaiah 43:19

We have still been church, as we have had to learn that church is not a destination, it is us.  We have still sought ways to be church in ways of showing generosity, reaching out, advocacy, compassion, and encouragement- (GRACE).

Through Bible studies, the Give and Greet, Kindness Rocks, and other events, plus online worship, we have continued ahead learning, giving, growing- in GRACE.

Yet the familiar Biblical cry of "how long" has been heard.  The need for one another in interpersonal contact even as we practice "social distancing" is a reality.  The inability to access some of what we have been doing due to technical difficulties/lack of equipment is also something of a stumbling block to some.

We will start an in-person worship experience at 8am in the Courtyard on October 4th.  That service will still be streamed for those who need online (the 10am will continue only being streamed for the time being).  We will practice social distancing and wear masks. If you have a comfy camp chair you wish to use, bring it.  Chairs will also be available.

It will be a step forward for us as we continue to be mindful and faithful.  It will be an experience as we seek to find ways to move into this new thing.

We will continue to look for ways to be church throughout October (CROPWalk, more Kindness Rocks activities, Blessing of the Animals, Manna Bags, another Give and Greet, etc.) as we continue to follow Jesus into the future with hope.

Remember that God loves you and so do I!
